Knight Digital Media Center and the Graduate School of Journalism at UC Berkeley are proud to announce our Multimedia Summer Series. These multimedia workshops are hands-on workshops designed to enhance your ability to create audience engagement across multiple digital platforms. The Multimedia Summer Series workshops are brought to you by the world’s premier center for applied digital communications.

 

Multimedia Storytelling Institute

June 18-29, 2012 Learn tools and techniques for developing compelling multimedia content in our two-week immersive summer program, led by experienced staff with presentations from award-winning faculty and industry leaders. Participants will take away best practices for crafting compelling interactive online content; strategies for storyboarding and multimedia project planning; tools for designing captivating visuals; and how to build successful social media engagement campaigns. Includes a fully-loaded iPad with all course content for you to take with you.

Data Mapping for Beginners

July 23-24, 2012 Learn the techniques for using data driven maps. Data maps are an effective visual tool used to communicate ideas, explain complex concepts, illustrate relationships or tell a story. This two-day workshop is a hands-on program focused on applying Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tools to visualize data with industry standard techniques. Participants will learn to utilize publicly available map files and data to build layered and informative maps.

July 25-27, 2012 Learn from master storytellers techniques for capturing the attention of your audience to create engaging videos.
